Last year, a utility customer in Southeast Asia sent us photos of a failed distribution transformer. The cause wasn’t the windings or the core — it was a low voltage bushing that had overheated at the terminal connection after less than two years in service. The transformer itself was worth...

As the pace of global distribution network reliability upgrades accelerates, market demand for dual-supply configurations continues to grow. In many developing countries, where grid power supply remains unstable, dual-supply distribution schemes with mutual backup are being widely adopted. When o...

A few years ago, a utility customer called us about a pad-mounted transformer that had failed on a mild spring afternoon. No lightning, no short circuit, no visible fault. The post-mortem told a familiar story: months of sustained overload had slowly cooked the insulating fluid, degraded the pape...

In underground power distribution, a cable connector does much more than join a cable to a bushing. Its design affects how a circuit is switched, how equipment is maintained, and how easily a network can be expanded later. Two products often come up during specification: the T deadbreak connect...

If you spend time designing or servicing North American underground medium voltage distribution systems, you’ve almost certainly run across the term T Deadbreak Connector. Field crews, specification engineers and procurement buyers often call it a T-body, T-tap or tee separable connector. It’s co...

There is no single “best” spot that fits every site. Where you mount a lightning arrester comes down to your system layout, the equipment you are protecting, and how bad the lightning exposure is in your area. That said, the rules below are what most engineers actually follow in the f...

Key Selection Points for 15 kV/25 kV 200 A American-Style Single-Pass Bushing insert Joints: How to Select Detachable Connectors for Ring Main Units In power distribution projects and box-type substation retrofits, the selection of American-style loadbreak elbows (detachable connectors) has long ...

In medium voltage distribution systems, a parking bushing is not usually the component that gets the most attention. But for systems using loadbreak elbow connectors, it has an important role when an energized cable connection needs to be temporarily or permanently parked. So, what exactly is a p...

Transformer bushings are among the most critical components for high-voltage transmission transformers. Industry field data shows bushing-related failures account for around 9.8% of total transformer failures, making it the second-largest contributor to transformer outages. This technical brief d...

When sourcing components for 35kV ring main units and terminal branch cabinets, many buyers come across the deadbreak T front connector. It is one of the most commonly used cable accessory solutions for medium-voltage power distribution. Overseas buyers from power utilities and EPC contractors of...

In the daily operation and maintenance of power distribution systems, cable accessories are often the most frequently faulty parts, especially the elbow-type cable joints in ring-main units (RMUs). If the compression process is not standardized, the internal contact resistance will increase, and ...

If you make HV cable accessories, you know silicone rubber and silicone grease inside out. Silicone rubber has been the core insulation in cable joints and terminations for ages, thanks to steady insulation performance, tough environmental resistance, and the fact that it doesn’t hog much s...
