CHARACTERISTICS OF OIL-IMPREGNATED PAPER INSULATED POWER CABLES

Date:08-24-2022

Power cables are used to transmit and distribute high-power electrical energy. According to different insulating materials, they can be divided into oil-impregnated paper-insulated power cables, rubber-insulated power cables and PVC-insulated power cables. The most widely used in engineering is the oil-impregnated paper insulated power cable, which is characterized by:

(1) The compressive strength is high, and the maximum working voltage can reach 66kV.

(2) Good heat resistance, high thermal stability and maximum allowable load current.

(3) Long service life, up to 30-40 years.

(4) The bending radius of the cable should not be very small, and the minimum ambient temperature during laying should not be lower than 0°C, otherwise, the cable should be pre-heated.

(5) The impregnating agent in the cable will flow during operation, and the height difference between the two ends of the cable after laying has a certain limit. The operation and maintenance of cable lines mainly include line inspection, maintenance, monitoring of load and temperature, preventive testing and defect troubleshooting.
